Awards & Recognition

* The summer after his freshman year, he was accepted into the Huang Fellows Program (run by Duke’s Science & Society initiative) and worked in the Chiba-Falek lab where he conducted work in genomics and neuroscience, with special interest in neurodegenerative diseases.

* He continued working in the Chiba-Falek lab through his sophomore year and contributed to the publication of two research papers.

Study Abroad

* After his sophomore year, he participated in the United States Department of State's Critical Language Scholarship Program, and through that program, he was able to study Japanese at Okayama University in Japan.

Activities & Clubs

* He has been a member of Hoof ‘n’ Horn since his freshman year and has performed in four student-run musical theater productions.

* He is also a member of Speak of the Devil, a Duke acapella group, which he was the president of during his Junior year.

What Next

* Daniel will continue to apply the skills he learned while at Duke when he starts working as an associate consultant at Bain & Company in San Francisco. He is interested in the connection between science, tech, and society. * Also, he hopes to learn more about how artificial intelligence and machine learning are used in industry as well as their future directions, ethical dilemmas, and legal considerations.
